It the example below we have number 4 as the clue for the first row. So we can exclude number 5 for that row.
In the same example we can exclude number 2 because we cannot make a combination with number 2 to satisfy our clue, number 4.
We resume with our example and look at column 2. There is only one combination (number 3 and 5) that meets clue 8. So those two numbers become green.
When we have solved a row/column and there are still cells that are undecided, then all those cells get a cross.
We continue with the same example. Column 2 is solved, so we can complete this column by adding two crosses.
First check the highest clue possible. With our grid of 5 (1+2+3+4+5) we cannot have a clue higher than 15. High clues can give us information about necessary cells.
In row 3 our clue is 11. One thing is 100% sure. We need number 5 because 1+2+3+4 = 10 and that is not enough. So the last cell in row 3 become green.
I am sure you have noticed that in row 1 we need to make all cells green to satisfy clue 15.
